Sokratis, the great philosopher said, ‘I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing that I know nothing’.
If you think you know everything, then you are an ignorant human being. How does any human become ignorant?
Religions like Islam and Christianity believe everything that was supposed to be known about this world is known and is a part of the holy books, and everything that isn’t known- isn’t worth knowing. For example- If a curious person wants to know about mushrooms, he could go talk to the priest. The priest would dismiss the question as needless because if the Lord wanted us to know about the importance of mushrooms, he would have included it in the holy book.
On the contrary, since the 1500 A.D. i.e. the Scientific Revolution, people were introduced to science, which was different because it was established on the basic idea that- ‘We know nothing’.
You might have observed that the men of science are more receptive and open to learning compared to the Imams and archbishops. Thus, ignorance comes from ignorant beliefs. A human is only as good as his beliefs.
Only recently, I discovered that mushrooms could possibly help humans take the much needed leap to next level of human consciousness. Who would have thought mushrooms could be a catalyst for neurogenesis?
The theory that we could have descended from Mars? (Jaw-dropping stuff, right?)
Well, the point is that accepting ignorance is extremely unfortunate. It causes your brain to stagnant. While being open-minded and curious is key to improvement and thus, is full of life.
Never stop learning, never stop improving.
