Brussels, Belgium Since the flowers are not planted, flower carpet of begonias takes only 3 days. The Flower Carpet is one of the greatest traditions in Brussels. The legendary event is held every two years on the Grand Place, creating a huge floral tapestry. This tradition comes from 1971. Landscape architect E. Stautemans cover the central area of the Grand Place vast tapestry of flowers. The event had such to the city of Brussels did not hesitate to re-install in the coming years. Since 1986 it is every two years. Flower Carpet was installed in just 4 hours. Some 100 gardeners are responsible for placing more than 700,000 begonias. Per square meter is used about 300 flowers.
I have visited Brussels and seen a small part of it but did not know this tradition existed. The carpet in the photo looks like a woven carpet. I do not see flowers.
That is very unique and interesting. Thank you.
