As I was lounging in bed during the early morning hours, I heard soft rain outside but it was still dark. I got up from bed after 6 am because Gumby wanted his breakfast. Then, I also ate something, before going back to bed. At 10 am, I decided to take a shower. I checked my calendar to notice nothing much is happening this month, except a couple of local walking meetups and one Improv meetup. I plan to go to the movies this week, if there is anything interesting playing. I notice on Friday evening, I have a movie meetup. I decided to go to the Spectrum Center mall. The streets were empty and nice, void of idiot drivers, except for a couple here and there, but it felt mostly like a ghost town. Despite the mall parking lot was very crowded, which I expected, I found an empty space right away. When I parked, I noticed I parked in front of my 6th sighting of Rudolph-disguised car.
The mall was very crowded and lively, in which is a interesting time to people-watch. I noticed many dogs on leashes and some small dogs in strollers. I took some snapshots of some window displays and decor to create my iPhone street art photos.
I stopped at Veggie Grill to try the Vegan Turkey sandwich with sweet potato on the side. It was good and filling.
Then, I just walked, window-shopped, and went inside some stores, such as Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. I noticed that many stores were having sales, which is a good time for the holidays, especially for young people. I took a stroll through mall alleys, checking out the crowd, mostly kids and dogs.
Even the ice skating rink was crowded…
…the sun was also bright…
…I took a snapshot of the Ferris Wheel during the daylight, for a change…
Even the there was a very bright sunlight, it was still chilly, especially for Southern California weather…
I miss So Cal. I used to visit alot in my military years, as well as to run local runs in the area.
what area did you visit? i live by the Tustin Marine Base, which is now The District mall.
Gaslamp, Mission bay, MCRD, and I have stayed in the area and drove up to Carlsbad 5000 one year.
That sandwich looks very good. I’m always drawn to purchasing turkey sandwiches topped with typical Thanksgiving dinner food items.
this is vegan version…it is better than slaughtered turkey version. they covered it with gravy and cranberry sauce to make the vegan sandwich more festive, kind of like food holiday decor.
I’m curious if I could find something similar at are vegan restaurants. I will be punching this in on my Yelp.
I’m curious if I could find something similar at our vegan restaurants in Chicago. I will be punching this in on my Yelp.
