DIY Homemade Stovetop Popcorn demos

This evening, I felt like eating a snack. So, I decided to make popcorn, but I soon realized that my popcorn popper has stopped working. I bought it in mid 2000s from Bed Bath & Beyond, and I have used it a lot since then. But this week it just died. Since I still have some kernels left, I decided to watch YouTube videos about the stovetop method for popping popcorn. I know it can be done, although I have never consider making popcorn on the stove. I used to use the microwave bag until I bought my small red and white Nostalgia Popcorn maker from Bed Bath & Beyond, in which I enjoyed using.

I watched three different videos. I am dying to try it out. I hope I don’t burned down my townhouse…I will probably try out the first video.

#1 Stovetop Popcorn demo 1

In this first video, he uses medium heat in a pot, and he adds salt and pepper for flavor. It looks like he uses 1/4 of oil. I would use either olive oil or coconut oil.

In this second video, he uses 1/4 cup of oil and high heat.

Interesting flavoring...

#3 Homemade Stovetop popcorn demo 3

In this third video, he using teaspoon of oil but he eventually adds a little more later, and he pops his kernels on medium heat.

He uses other products like Flavacol, which he states you can buy on Amazon, coconut oil, and movie theater butter.
