National Hair Hairstyles on Instagram

When I attended university back in the 70s, the popular hairstyles for black women were afros or cornrow braids.  I was pretty good at doing the braids and my friends would often ask me to do their hair. I did it because they were my friends but looking back on it, I realize that it could have been a source of extra income if I charged them for my braid jobs.  Anyway!  It’s water under the bridge.  The natural afro and the braided hairstyles that were popular back in my day are still popular.  You can find lots of beautiful #naturalhair hairstyles on Instagram.  Over 20 million photos!  I like the hairdo in the first photo in my list, but honestly, I picked it for my list because the young lady reminds me very much of my granddaughter.

Everybody knows Rihanna has great hair!  Even though she's a grown-up, her hairstyle can easily be modified to suit a baby girl!

#3 Barbie Shero with Naturally Curly Hair

There was no such thing as a black girl Barbie doll when I was a kid (late 50s; early 60s).  I think it's great that the makers of Barbie finally decided to represent women of color like Yara Shahidi.

#4 Twists and Twirls and Dreads! Oh my!

#6 A gray-fro make grandma look good!

My hair doesn't have the amount of "salt" to pull off any of these hairdos.  Right now my hair color is more "pepper" than "salt".  I am waiting a little while longer for some more gray hairs to come in and then I am going to aim for one of these styles.

What do you think?
