Just done watching this 90s original animated Marvel TV series.
When Henry Peter Gyrich attacked Professor X with an energy disruptor during a Human/Mutant Relations Summit, Charles Xavier was severely injured and wounded, and in order to be cured he needs to go with Lilandra to ShiAr Empire, but said to his X-Men students that he can no longer go back his body to Earth, only that his spirit is.
