Another great comedian of my youth has passed away on Wednesday. Comedian Patti Deutsch who was one of the cast members of the “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In” and was a regular on a few game shows like “Match Game” and “Tattletales” among others passed away from cancer at age 73.
When I was living in the former Canal Zone in Panama “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In” was one of the few commercial network shows in America that was televised on the former Armed Forces Radio And Television Service (AFRTS) branch station the Southern Command Network (SCN) during the prime time hours.
Since I was a preteen at the time, shows like “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In” and other sitcoms were my form of entertainment back in the 1970s.
Deutsch may not be a household name to the younger generation of television viewers today but she left her mark as one of the best entertainers of her time.
When I watch reruns of “Match Game” on the Game Show Network (GSN) on television today, I look at the celebrities who are that show as part of the six person panel and it is very sobering to learn that most of them have either passed away or they have retired from the acting profession.
Rest in peace Patti. You went the distance in life and through your work as a comedian made the world a better place. Until we meet again, thanks for the memories.
R.I.P Patti Deutsch …….
I agree with you Branka because the celebrities I saw on game shows in the late 1970s are dying out.
RIP Patti Deutsch I used to watch her on Laugh-in when it originally aired.Henry Gibson also passed and he was on Laugh-in too.
I remember Henry Gibson in his role in The Blues Brothers movie as a Nazi officer.
Laugh In is on one of the free digital networks. I ran across it some weeks ago.
Thank you for sharing the info.
She’s in a better place now!
That is true.
My grandma is in a better place now. She passed back in March!
RIP. Thanks for sharing this
I don’t really know her
I understand your view since she was not what you call a top of the line celebrity.
Patti lived a great life.
