Song Saturday – Above The Night by Incognito

source

Incognito is one of the best jazz bands in the history of the UK.  Their most iconic song was in the ’80’s.  They covered the Stevie Wonder hit “Don’t You Worry About a Thing.”  Afterwards, they have used their platform to elevate jazz and soul singers over the past four decades.

This single “Above the Night” is from their 2012 album titled “Surreal.”  The track is an original song from Incognito sung by Natalie Williams.  Her vocal range, pitch, and tone is absolutely ridiculous.

I picked this song for Song Saturday on the Saturday before the New Year due to the message of the song.  This song is about not allowing prior toxic relationships from pulling you into the darkness.  For 2020, choose to be above the night.
