Musical artist Paul Simon on Monday has announced that his latest musical tour of America and Europe which is called “Homeward Bound–The Farwell Performance” will his final world tour of entertaining his fans throughout the years that he has been in show business as a recording iconic figure.
Simon has decided to end his musical tour that starts in Vancouver on May 16 and ends in London England on July 15. The final tour of Paul Simon will be 29 concerts in the 2018 calendar year.
Simon has decided to end his musical touring show this year for two reasons. One is that Paul wants to spend more time with his relatives. The second reason is that due to the death of lead guitarist Vincent N’guini who died on December 8, 2017 in Abadiania Brazil due to liver cancer. Vincent was 65 years of age.
There is one catch for any artist who makes a living by doing world musical tours is that the artist performs in front of many strangers inside a venue while the relatives are back home waiting for their famous relative to come home and spend quality time with them.
Paul however will still perform charity shows to give back to the charities that he feels the need to use his star power to make a difference in the world.
Paul will be best remembered for not only his work as a solo artist but also his duet with singer Art Garfunkel which recorded the hit song “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” together.
It is nice to see Paul Simon leaving the musical tour business while he is still on top of his game instead of staying too long and being lampooned by the media for the quality of his work would be considered awful.
I agree and I would retire if I were him.
Great musician.
Paul will still be doing charity shows but his decision to quit touring while he is on top is a wise decision.
Yes I absolutely agree with you.
I will always remember the songs that I learned as a child, The Sound of Silence. Cecilia and Bridge over Troubled Water.
Bridge Over Troubled Water is one my favorite songs by Paul Simon.
At least Paul leave the touring business on top of his game.
You never know, Leonard Cohen needed more money to pay for his expenses so he released a new CD last year and then 3 weeks later he passed away.
That could be true since many artists that I know return to touring because in the words of the late Donna Summer “I was becoming a desperate housewife.”
It is the very truth that one knows when to descend from the pedestal of glory.
