Winter 26 Unicorn
Putting out his last flame, Morgus wafts the stench of burnt flesh away from his nose as he backs away. “Stay the night in our guest room, and I’ll pay you in the morning.”
Offering her arm as Analand stands, she says formally, “agreed.”
They chat about nature and life while watching the two wights as they wait for Barran to bring the priests and other warriors.
When the four Hessan staff arrive, arrangements are made for the corpses to be taken to the chapel, and Morgus then takes Tussel aside addressing him. “It’s all approved; in the morning head out to the craftshop … you’re to work the smithy with Hez. You’ll no longer be Private Tussel. Your wage is now fifteen-dusters per day, you’ll be working five of each six-day.”
They clasp arms before Tussel eagerly joins the others in moving the stinking smouldering corpses to the Hessan chapel.
Looking up to the third-floor manor windows, Morgus notes light emanating from Halda’s guest room illuminating a silhouette in the window.
