This video explains the history behind Mattel as well as the creation of Barbie and Ken. Barbie’s real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts, the daughter of George and Margaret Roberts from a small town in Willows, Wisconsin, which by the way is fictional. Barbie was born on March 9, 1959. She is now 61 years old, two years older than her boyfriend Ken. Skipper Roberts, Barbie’s younger sister, was born in 1964. She is now 56. Ken’s real name is Kenneth Sean Carson, born on March 11, 1961. He is now 59 years old.
The real classic Barbie is now estimated to be 5 feet and 9 inches tall, which original measurements of 36-18-33, and weighing 110 pounds, if she was a real human. I still like the original disproportionate Barbie because because she was a classic. Her human-size clothing would be a size 4. The new small-chested and wide-hipped Barbie looks stupid and plain jane.
I enjoyed playing with Barbie dolls growing up. I wish I still had a few of the older classics!! They are worth a good bit now.
i have two older classics–barbie and skipper. they have long eyelashes, and Ken has a string you pull so he talks. i also have malibu barbie and malibu skipper.
That is awesome! I had a big collection when I was young and I took care of them. They ended up being put in storage in garage and they were ruined up there.

yeah, i used to play with barbies with i was young. i also had ken and skipper. but my stupid cousins broke some of my barbies. i always took care of my stuff, which rarely broke.
