H-E-B cashier gets a scholarship worth $500 dollars for a kind deed

H-E-B cashier Jake Pate who is an employee of the store in Lake Jackson Texas was rewarded by the Taylor Whitley Foundation to receive a $500 scholarship for his kind act to pay the remainder of a female customer who did not have enough money to pay for her groceries.

Jake who felt sorry for the female customer decided to use his credit card to pay the remainder of her grocery bill. Ryan Birdsong who was in the checkout line took an image of Jake paying for the remainder of her bill.

When the kind act was shown on Facebook,  Shannon Whitley of the Taylor Whitley SHOW UP scholarship foundation , rewarded Jake with a $500 dollar scholarship so Jake would be motivated to keep up his great service at H-E-B.

Not to mention giving Jake some money to purchase materials that he will need when he goes to college to ease up the heavy burden of paying tuition.

Jake insists that he is not a hero, he was just doing his job at serving the customers that come to his checkout line to pay for their items.

The lesson to be learned is that doing good deeds to others in need with a cheery tone goes have its rewards. I will conclude this blog by wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

  1. let’s underpay teachers and jack up the admission price so that students will be smothered in debt. Surely this will not have serious long term ramifications…
