Amar Chitra Katha – the comics I grew up reading

I am fond of reading and you will always find a few books on my bedside. When I go out, I always carry a book in my handbag so that I can read a few pages in case I have to wait somewhere. If I have a book with me then I don’t mind waiting. My parents inculcated the love for reading in me. They used to buy me a lot of comics and storybooks when I was a kid. Of all the comics, I used to like Amar Chitra Katha the best. In fact, I credit Amar Chitra Katha for my command over languages too.

Amar Chitra Katha is a treasure house of comics on Indian mythology, legendary heroes, freedom fighters, stories like Jataka tales & Panchatantra, fictional characters like Suppandi and Shanbhu. It is India’s one of the largest selling comic books which are printed in twenty languages. Amar Chitra Katha comics are not only very interesting to read with beautiful illustrations but also acquaint your child with history, culture and mythology.

I had my comics collection for years and even my son read it. I also used to buy new titles for my son when he was young. Recently I donated my childhood comics collection to a local orphanage.
