Very Faded Ghost Sign for Fox Deluxe Beer (2015-05-16 12-30-43a)

The ghost sign is on the west wall of 1441 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, Illinois (Edgewater).  It is so washed out that it is practically unreadable and required a web search to identify it.

Fox Beer was produced by the Peter Fox Brewing Company from 1940 to 1951. It was known as “The Beer With an Ale Base” and was featured in a movie entitle “Call Northside 777” which starred Jimmy Stewart and was filmed almost entirely in Chicago. This is one of twelve extant ghost signs for Fox Beer. The building was built in 1912 so that doesn’t help narrow down the date the sign was painted.

The photo was taken using a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. Post-processing was done with ACDSee Ultimate 2018. I adjusted the lighting and boosted the contrast and clarity. I also adjusted the white balance.
