Signs on Blues on Halsted, Chicago, Illinois (2018-09-07 13-17-46a)
Blues music is very popular in Chicago, no doubt helped that it is home to such blues legends as Lonni Brooks, James Cotton, Willie Dixon, Bo Diddley, Koko Taylor and Buddy Guy to name just a few. Its free annual Blues Fest brings musicians from all over the world including, one year, Chuck Berry and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones performing together. The iconic Blues on Halsted is located at 2519 North Halsted in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Despite the broken windows on the second and third floors, this is still a functioning blues club. The photo is a grab shot while I was stopped at a traffic light.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I used ACDSee Ultimate 2018 to edit it. I straightened the image, then adjusted the lighting and the white balance. Next I increased the saturation, especially in the blues, the contrast and the clarity and adjusted the tone curve and the levels (Auto option).

Beautiful picture! It looks like an old place in the city
Thank you, Elena. A lot of the buildings in the area date back to the 1880s and 1890s – old by Chicago standards – but some have been replaced by modern structures.
Nice image of a building in Chicago that I did not know existed.
That’s one of the benefits of living in Chicago. There are a lot of interesting buildings.
That is nice to know that some of the buildings in Chicago are still around.
This has to be one of my favorite photos of yours Gary. And I love the blues. Beautiful.
Thanks, Carol. The place is on the way to one of my wife’s doctors. I had been trying to get a decent photo of it and happened to get stopped in the right place due to some road construction work.
Well thank goodness for that construction work!
