My Picks For Cool Tweets About the Fortune Cookie

I love fortune cookies.  Whenever I go to or order from a Chinese restaurant in America, I must be sure to get a fortune cookie.  It’s fun to read the fortune!  

Most people are settled in their minds that the Chinese fortune cookie is an American tradition.  But some people still say the idea is Chinese.  They say it came from the mooncake.  According to Chinese history or again … “some say” … it’s just a folktale or a myth but … the story goes that Ming revolutionaries who were fighting Mongolian rule used to secretly transmit messages using mooncakes (1279-1368).   (Did Mooncakes Help the Chinese Overthrow the Mongols? – Gastro Obscura) 

Folktale?  Myth?  FACT!  The Mongols were overthrown.  That’s real history.  Connecting the mooncake messages to messages in fortune cookies is just one plausible explanation for how this fun tradition originated.  There are more. (Fortune Cookie History)
