An Old Multi-Family House in Budlong Woods, Chicago, Illinois (2014-09-27 13-15-33a)
Located at 2460 W Foster, Chicago, Illinois, the house was built in 1896. At that time the area, now known as Budlong Woods in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, belonged to the Budlong Pickle Company who operated a farm and factory to produce pickles and greenhouses to grow flowers.
Note the separate entrance for each unit. As people moved into Chicago from rural areas, this double entrance was very popular. (Recently I posted a photo of another Chicago house with dual entrances. Click here to see that photo.) Eventually the single entrance prevailed.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I used ACDSee Ultimate 2018 to do the editing. I rotated the image a bit to straighten it and cropped it some. I adjusted the lighting and raised the contrast and clarity. Then I increased the vibrance and raised the saturation in the blues (for the sky) and the greens (for the foliage). Lastly I used the clone tool to get rid of the tail end of a car in the alley.

Lots of room in this family house.
I’d like to see the floor plan.
