A Beauty Shop on Devon Avenue (2014-05-20 12-05-29a)
The shop is located at 2759 West Devon Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. This is the West Ridge neighborhood, sometimes referred to as West Rogers Park. The storefronts along Devon Avenue in this neighborhood reflect its ethnic diversity but also the division between ethnicities.
Between Damen (2000W) and Western Avenue (2400W), the storefronts are predominantly Pakistani. From Western to California Avenue (2800W), you find the Indians. If you are in the market for a sari, this is the place to go. Between California and Kedzie Avenue, you find the Jewish neighborhood. There is some intermixing at the borders but not much.
This shop’s address puts it just in the Indian side of the Indian-Jewish border so I would assume its clientele is predominantly Indian.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera and used Luminar 2018 to edit it. First I cropped the image to single out the storefront. Then I used the RAW Develop filterto lower the exposure -0.75 ev and boost the contrast, shadows and clarity. I also used the Accent-AI, Polarizing, Details Enhancer and Denoise filters.

Thanks again. I really do appreciate your feedback.
That could easily be the case, especially if he was also Jewish. This shop is on the border of the Indian and Jewish neighborhoods.
I thought the owner was from Russia. Natasha is a very popular name there.

Looks like their speciality is eyebrow threading. Great photo Gary.
I walked by a kiosk in a shopping mall where a woman was getting an eyebrow threading. I have a pretty strong stomach but I almost barfed.
I have never seen this done and hope I don’t!
