By making internet connection so simple, the risk was that intelligent people would be able to use it to expose lies and corruption, etc.

Although this does happen, the majority of users do not exploit the Internet for knowledge, they play games, spill their secrets on Facebook, post ‘selfies’.  

For most people the Internet is an interactive T.V.

Instead of helping to educate and inform, it is used for diversion and entertainment.

Children use it to cheat on their homework.  They don’t read the chapter or do the work, they go online,  cut and paste.

Where their grandparents had to read and absorb, had to go to the library to do research, had to learn how to learn, today’s generation has it served to them.
