In the afternoon, Paula and her mother went to the hospital.
Sandra’s leg had been badly broken, a pin had to be inserted. She would take a bit of rehab to walk again.
If things went as expected, Sandra would be moved to the rehab wing in three days.
The family came together as to what should be done. They discussed the visiting schedule they should adopt, and would learn how the accident happened, for the purposes of a law suit.
Paula saw her family through new eyes, they weren’t Uncle This and Aunt That, they were people, with backstories.
She became fascinated by her own family, people she had ‘known’ all her life, but didn’t know.
