John Cougar Mellencamp was born in Seymor Indiana.
When I was in college, we actually used to go to a local bar (Call the Bluebird or just the Bird.) there were local bands that had friends of mine in them and we would go and relax on a Friday or Saturday night.
One of the acts that we started enjoying was a young college band featuring John Mellencamp. He became famous as Johnny Cougar.
He had many songs I loved, but I grew up in a small town is one of my favorites!
I’ve never heard this song before, dear friend … the singer is also unknown to me … he’s probably better known in the US
he probably is, we used to listen to him years ago before he was famous!
Unfortunately, I haven’t heard of him even though he sings well
Â
he was big in Farm Aid, and in the 80s and 90s. But most likely not as big outside the US.
The US is a big enough market to become popular and not have to seek popularity elsewhere
He was also big in Asia, in particular, his song Pink Houses.
At my young age, we used to have fun on our weekends in the hall we had in the village.
we did the same thing. I had a good friend who was the lead singer in a band, we used to go where they were playing!
Cool old pictures in that video. Great song choice Doc! I love small towns!!
I was born in the big city and spent most of my life in or near a big city. The years I spent in a small town, were not the best years for me.
There are perks, then there are issues that come with living in a small town. Having only one stop light is a wonderful thing. The small town I lived in was an hour away from the big city of Springfield, MO, and the other way the big city was four hours away, Little Rock! With small town living the worst part is the gossip. The gossip is horrid! 😉
my in-laws used to live south of Little Rock (Hot Springs) we went there often!
That is one cool town, we used to go there often as well. On our way we would stop off and have an ice cream cone with Coco the bear.
we always stopped at some small BBQ shack along the way!
