For my run today, I ventured out to Humboldt Park, and stumbled on many things throughout the park itself and this just happened to be one of those things. From a distance I assumed that it had something to do with running, but it does not. Created by Jorge Felix, ‘P’al Norte’ speaks about immigrants’ journeys to this country. Each of the 40 pairs of shoes tells a story of immigration: a father and son, a husband and wife, a couple of brothers, and many more. The sculpture is meant to interact with the community and its surroundings. Dirt will be placed inside the shoes and morning glories planted. After some time, the sculpture’s steel will be rusted and covered in vines and flowers, and each shoe will be a home for birds and insects.
As for these photos they were taken with a Samsung Galaxy S8, and shared as part of the 365 Photos Challenge, which the rules and guidelines are listed if you would like to participate.
In my land of the bascule and the poor, I would poke all the shoes in 24 hours. I would only have iron. Someone else would have taken it away and sold it as a secondary raw material. The sad truth,
I would imagine that its patrolled not only during the day, but at night also which would make it tough because many visit this area plus drive passed it.
