Once one realises that Abuse isn’t just physical; a beating from a husband or enforced overtime from a boss, but emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual it is an Epiphany.
In an example; Gerta is five feet four, Rick is six feet four. Gerta is ugly. Rick is attractive. Yet Gerta owns Rick as if she purchased him at the market.
She has the money, she is the citizen, he lives off of her in her country. He can do nothing, say nothing, nor go where she doesn’t permit.
When Rick realises the reality of his life; that he thought he would marry up instead of becoming Gerta’s slave, it is often too late to escape.
