Democracy – 12

The problem with Democracy is that often it is sacrificed for expedience.

Where there is a strong opposition the party in power can not push its agenda.  In many cases, the party in power has the majority and does what it pleases with very little opposition.

Some leaders have an ‘executive privilege’ which virtually crowns them with the powers of a dictator.

Those that don’t are forced into negotiation.

If a nation has strong, committed persons who are not guided by profit and power, who are actually patriots than the democracy thrives.

If those who hold position are more interested in their pocket and stick then the people would be better off with a benevolent dictator.
