In a year, Carla became pregnant. Steven demanded the child be raised in his religion. Carla didn’t object any more than had his mother.
She believed, as did Mary, that being forced into a religion would result in rebellion and rejection. Especially when she, who didn’t push, practiced every aspect of her religion where Steven was a rather poor example… perhaps the word was hypocrite or fraud.
During her pregnancy Carla got the best care, Steven had money.
