And Comes the Fourth Generation – 148

Ann South held the meeting on B Block.  All tenants were mandated to be there.

They sat in  a sour line, as she informed them that the Board required she discuss the situation with them.

Although they knew she had no power, if she spoke for the Board, if the Board demanded this meeting, then they had to attend.

They lined up on the veranda, and Ann South began to talk.

The meeting went from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Some of the girls had things to say, some sat in sour silence.

At the end, Ann South returned to the Matron’s House feeling as if she’d run a marathon.

The tenants argued about the rules, and a few decided to move.
