World War II veteran gets a huge birthday gift

in hi S Navy World War II veteran Duane Sherman who turned 96 years of age on December 30, 2018 was having a bittersweet time being one of the few veteran from World War Ii who are still alive which is bitter for him since there are hardly anyone who served with him during the war who are still alive outside of his relatives to keep him happy since being a senior citizen with hardly anyone to share a life with is a very lonely life.Ho

However thanks to Sue Morse who is the daughter of Duane had an idea to cheer up her father when his 96th birthday came. Sue placed an ad on Facebook that members of the United States Armed Forces would be so kind to send her dad a Happy Birthday card.

What happened next is that thanks to the response from current as well as former members of the Armed Forces sent Duane around 50,000 cards and letters wishing Duane a happy 96th birthday and a thank you for his service during World War II when he served around the USS Lamson which saw a lot of battle in the Pacific region during World War II.

It is nice to see that our brave men and women who have served and are currently serving in our U S military did their part to thank Duane for his service during the Greatest Generation by sending him happy birthday cards on his 96th birthday in his home in Fullerton California.
