A Customer with no shame nor apology told Mellisa;
“No one is at the counter. When I want those items, I take them. I pay for them I pay for them at another cashier. My alternative is to go across the street to the other supermarket.”
Mellisa, appreciating what the customer told her. The particular cashier was often missing from her post. The advice given was that the customer should call some one to go behind the counter for her.
On more than one, more than five occasions, the Customer would be shouting;
“I’m going behind the counter!”
And Mellisa or another of the Assistant Managers would move quickly to give the customer the goods.
One warning from anyone should be enough.
It should be, but in many cases, it isn’t, and despite all the protocols and organisation and yada yada…
