Lily lived in a limited locked world in which there were no distractions.
It was school work then it was work. Nothing else.
As a child her parents did not watch television programs nor allow her to. They did not go to the cinema.
Once there was a free movie at school, and Lily had attended. It had washed over her. Lily had no experience of life, so couldn’t grasp the plot or the twists in dialogue. So never went again.
Where the others listened to music and had favourites, she didn’t and felt no lack.
She had no idea how people interacted, so had no friends.
Those who tried to befriend her would receive her coldness, insults, contempt.
Wise parents expose their children to reality and let them be children.
So sad but true for too many unfortunate children.
