After Abuse – 30

To go over every moment of the abuse is not simply to wallow in misery or punish yourself, it is to learn from it.  To learn how it was done, how you perceived it, how you responded.

You need to do this.

To slam the door and pretend ‘that part never happened’ is to have it repeat.   Not only repeat an abusive relationship, but might destroy perfectly good relationships because of misreading.

The importance of analysis can not be overstated.  Once one sees what happened, how it happened, it is like a vaccination.

Knowing what to look for, hearing between the words, getting the hidden meanings, is protection.
