Rotterdam – Delftshaven – 31-03-17 (sold)
Situated at Rotterdam, Delftshaven is the old harbour entree for the city of Delft, at the north of Rotterdam. I wanted to do a drawing full of atmosperic depth but still with a bit of cubist styling in it.
Graphite pencil drawing (Pentel 0.5 mm, 3B) on Canson Bristol paper (21 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm – A4 format)
Artist: Corné Akkers
I love your capture of light and texture; I can almost touch the surface tension of the canal water. It’s peaceful, hushed, perhaps a season with which people are familiar; I muse upon the neatly tied boats, reflective of that row of buildings and a solemn line of receeding poles; classic perspective perfectly depicted.. It is all very believable, filled with the presence of people, and the place they live.
Thank you for sharing this. How could you bear to sell it?
Thanks Kathy for such an eloquent description of what you saw in my drawing. I can bear the pain because I can make more and it is my profession after all. 🙂
Nice!
There we go again, got no proper words to appreciate the effort…marvelous work.
Well said
I love all those curves swinging down and around over on the right, and the way you represent the failing visibility in the left distance.
