Cityscape at the New Britain Museum Art

In this sketchy looking cityscape at the New Britain Museum of Art in Connecticut, I was surprised to see it was by Thomas Hart Benton. It looked little like any of his other work. Note the NRA banner in the upper section. No, this was NOT the National Rifle Association. Here the NRA stood for the ‘National Recovery Administration”. They put decals, flags, signs and banners up on businesses that used the NRA. The Supreme Court struck the program down as it was just a form of Socialusm/ communism and unConstitutional.
