Memorial Building for Abraham Lincoln’s Birth Cabin

At Lincoln’s Birthplace log cabin in Hodgenville, Kentucky there is now a National Historic Park there. There a wonderful neo-classical Memorial Building was designed by John Russell Pope for the birthplace site. In 1909 President Theodore Roosevelt did activities for laying the cornerstone .  In 1911 the building was dedicated by President William Howard Taft. There are 16 windows in the building housing the log cabin representing Lincoln being the 16th president.  There are 56 steps leading up the hill to the building representing Lincoln’s age at his death.
