A missing dog reunites with her owners in Connecticut

Recently Michelle Reindeau and her husband Rick Reindeau were heartbroken that the Dachshund named Lady had vanished from their home in Brooklyn Connecticut.

When Lady vanished from their home five years ago, the Reindeaus were depressed that their 12 year old Dachshund would not come back alive since either the dog would die of starvation or lack of water after her disappearing act in their hometown of Brooklyn Connecticut.

However since Lady had been microchipped, the odds would improve that someone would find Lady and return her to a local animal shelter so the officials at the animal shelter could contact them to give them the news that their dog would either safe and sound or in the worst case scenario, she would passed away.

Whatever happened to Lady is still not clear if someone took care of her or did Lady have several caretakers to watch over her during those five years that had passed.

The Reindeaus received the good news from Donna Gremminger who is an Assistant Animal Control officer found Lady at a parking lot in Norwich Connecticut which is 20 miles away from Brooklyn.

Donna believes that Lady was abandoned by her previous owner since Lady due to her age is deaf and blind.

Thanks to the microchip, Chris Lamb who is the president of the CT Animal House which is a non profit animal shelter that tries to find homes for abandoned dogs was able to locate where her owners were located since the microchip contacted a company in Rhode Island where Rick used to work at.

His former employer was able to give Chris the phone number to the Reindeaus on Thursday to give them the good news.

To put it mildly, the Reindeaus were happy to travel to Norwich Connecticut to reunite with their dog who has been in their home since 2001 when the Reindeaus along with their children were on vacation in Arizona when they adopted Lady.

Donna mentioned that a dog that reunites with their owners after five years is very rare.

Perhaps the late New York Yankees baseball legend Yogi Berra said it best. “It ain’t over till its over.”

    • I am sure the owners of Lady were hoping that their dog would come back one day despite the odds of coming alive in a period of five years being against them.
