A Hull Police Department member of the K 9 Unit named Kenny who served eight years with the Hull police was given a huge farewell party on Saturday at the Hull Police Department headquarters.
Kenny who is being handled by Hull Police Officer John Mercer who has been a faithful partner for the four years that they worked together is one of the most admired dogs in the police department for his role in assisting the police catch the criminals and being the best friend of his handler.
Hull (Massachusetts) Police Chief Jack Dunn is sad that after eight years Kenny had to say goodbye to working with officers of his unit.
The silver lining in the sadness that Kenny is stepping down is that Kenny can spend the rest of his life with his current handler Officer John Mercer.
You can see how much a dog or person is admired when they step down from their chosen profession by being showered with gifts.
In the case of Kenny’s farewell to working with the police, Kenny was given a cake to eat as his farewell present.
How cool is he with his glasses. They become like their children when they spend so much time with them.
I remember a person who mentioned on a radio talk show that dogs are like children to their owners.
Dogs are very tied to the owner…..
That is very true that dogs and their handler are very close to each other.
the bond between K9 units is strong, so the retired dogs almost always go to live with their handlers
That is true since the officer that handles Kenny admits their bond is priceless.
It is nice that the dogs get to retire and live with their handlers
It is a lot better for a handler to spend his life with his pet dog than burying the dog who died in the line of duty.
Surely this is the case…
