Sergey Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KO) defended his WBO Light Heavyweight (175 lbs) Championship belt with an eleventh round knockout of previously unbeaten contender Anthony Yarde (18-1, 17 KO) in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Kovalev was almost knocked out in the eighth round, but was able to turn the tables around in order to secure the victory.
The weird part about the fight was the final punch because Kovalev knocked down Yarde with a jab. Yarde was so exhausted that he was knocked out by a jab. Yarde was so tired that he was fatigued in the fifth round. The exhaustion was expected because he said that he does not do any running as part of his training.
Amazing how they survive these rounds.
They both train for about 3 months leading up to the fight.
11 rounds? I’m surprised either one could still stand.
Yeah, they both took a lot of good shots. Back in the 70’s, the fights went 15 rounds instead of 12 until someone died in the ring.
