Veiled Chameleon (2017-01-27 12-06-56a)
Chameleons are a fascinating family of lizards. They live in trees and capture their insect prey by rapidly shooting out their tongue which, in some species, is almost as long as their bodies. Their eyes, which have a very wide angle of view, can move independently so one eye can look forward (as the visible eye in this photo is doing) while the other is looking behind. If you move around in front of one, they will often move the eye to follow you. Chameleons are know for their ability to change color but different species do so to different degrees and they can’t blend in with anything.
The above photo is not one of my pets but was taken at the PetCo store located at 3046 North Halsted, Chicago, Illinois. It was taken using a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. I then used ACDSee Ultimate 10.2 to crop, adjust the lighting, boost contrast, vibrance and saturation and remove some distractions.
