I have been wanting to take a taekwondo class, and I finally decided to just do it. The problem is, I am in no shape to keep up with the class. I am 40 pounds overweight, and I lead a very sedentary life. Luckily I am still healthy, but who knows what my unhealthy lifestyle will bring in the future?
I consulted my doctor, and he recommended starting out slowly. Five to ten minutes on the treadmill, and work my way up to longer duration. Simple stretching exercises for a few minutes each day. Yesterday was my first day, and I managed fifteen minutes on the treadmill. I stretched for five minutes, and did a little weight lifting with five pound weights.
In a few weeks, I hope to be able to walk to the beach, about a half mile away. In a few months, I hope to be able to finally join the TKD class, and be able to keep up with the rest of the class.
Even a 15 minute daily exercise can give you balance result
Exercise is one thing I work on by playing boxing games on the Nintendo Wii since it is one way to work out stress.
The key is to start slowly and pace yourself. You got this!
