In one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, Andy Ruiz, Jr. knocked out Anthony Joshua to become the WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight champion of the world. Ruiz came back from being knocked down in the third round to knocking down Joshua twice in the third and knocking down Joshua twice in the seventh round before the fight was ended by the referee.
To show how much of an upset this fight really was, the only boxing expert that picked Andy Ruiz to win this bout was Abner Mares on ‘Inside PBC Boxing’ a couple of weeks ago.
AJ iS SOOOO OVER RATED
If he wins the rematch, then this will just be a minor blip on AJ’s record. Lennox Lewis had a couple of losses against McCall and Rahman, but came back to win both rematches. AJ can maintain his legacy if he can come back like Lennox Lewis did.
I cannot see Anthony Joshua beating him unless he changes his style. I would imagine that to beat a guy like Andy you’d have to keep your distance and keep punches coming versus the slow pace that Anthony has.
Yeah, he’s not changing. They said that he doesn’t train boxing year-round – he only trains boxing right before he fights.
Damn! Now that tells why he doesn’t seem to care about the loss
I’am actually happy that Andy won. He brings new energy and direction in the heavyweight division. I had some fun on my Twitter the night he won, plus I shared some snickers pictures.
Hope this was your pick to win.
I didn’t really think that Ruiz was going to win because Joshua was knocking almost everyone out.
Thank you for posting the boxing news.
You are welcome. I wasn’t going to post it, but this upset was being reported all over the world.
What makes boxing great is those upsets in the heavyweight division
