Jessica Andrade def Rose Namajunas via KO slam in Round 2 at #UFC237 #AndNew

Jessica Andrade became the new Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) strawweight champ after a KO slam over Rose Namajunas in Round 2 at UFC 237 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Namajunas was winning the fight rather handily with smooth boxing and angles that left Andrade rather bloody. However, Namajunas went for an armbar that was countered when Andrade picked her up and slammed her on her head for the knockout. The move was not deemed as illegal because Namajunas was going for the submission at the time of the slam.
She could actually win in the rematch if she stays away from being slammed.
The pressure was too much for Rose. Andrade would have knocked her out later in the fight because she was catching Rose in the 2nd round and Rose’s cardio was almost gone.
I felt so bad for Rose after seeing this. I am just happy that she got up from it
man, that’s just plain brutal
She should not have been holding her arm because there are many replays of people being slammed due to holding on to a triangle choke or to an armbar.
so if someone holds your arm, you’re eligible for a head slam?
That’s in the rules because she was trying to win the match with that arm lock, so a person can do whatever they can to break the hold of the arm except for holding on to the fence, eye gouging, and hitting to the crotch.
note to self; never hold anybody’s arm…
