There was a very popular TV sitcom in the USA which ran from 1965 to 1971 called “Green Acres.” It starred Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor as a married couple who leave New York City and move to a small town full of unusual characters by the name of Hooterville. The series was actually a spin-off from another sitcom called “Petticoat Junction” set in the same town.
Much of the humor in the show came from the fact that, although the husband hated living in New York and wanted desperately to move to the country, the wife had never lived anywhere other than New York and couldn’t conceive of living in the country.

The idea of moving to a smaller town or countryside excites me and I talk about it all the time. So far, it has been empty talk from my end with no action. ?
My wife and I talk about it a lot but, at this point, we can’t.
If I was still working it would not be possible but my wife and I are both retired so it wouldn’t be hard for us.
Thanks. I’m glad you liked it.
I meant to add that it’s not mine. It’s a scene from the TV show.
I like movies from reality.
There wasn’t much realistic about Green Acres.
I loved watching the show for the humor. I was born and raised in NYC but loved the summers I spent in the Catskill Mountains of NY state. I would love to live in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. I would be great for my nervousness. Right now I live in Daytona Beach, Florida and it is not a small town but a resort town and it is alright before tourist season because there are quiet streets where you could walk and meet no one and that is what I like. For that reason I loved the years I spent in Riga, Latvia because out in the suburbs close to the city I could walk dirt roads and enjoy forests and such.
I used to live in Kansas City, Missouri but in the outer edge of the city. There was a woods about a block away from my house. I spent a lot of time there.
I currently live in a small town and love it. I remember this show very well.
I’m jealous. I would move to a small town in a minute.
