How To Make A Quick And Easy Gift Container

I had one of those moments this morning. Nothing to use for the gift! So I had to think fast.

I had planned to take my friend some chocolate oatmeal and peanut butter oatmeal no bake cookies, I made them and they cooled and I went to the storage tub and there was not one gift bag left! Okay I was thinking I will just do the paper plate with the foil on top, Out of paper plates!

I stood in the kitchen and I seen the gift container developing in my head. Those two empty oatmeal containers, I knew how to transform them for a quick and easy fix.

I tapped out any oatmeal dust that was left behind. I grabbed the Christmas wrapping paper, scissors, tape and the ink pen.

I laid the container in its side and measured the wrapping paper, I marked it with the pen. I then cut out the square, positioned the container so there was plenty of over hang on both ends. I taped it in place.

Next I neatly folded the bottom and taped it in place.

For the top I just folded it over into the container.

Now for the lid :

I laid the lid on the wrapping paper and cut out a square.

Using the ink pen I drew around the lid making a circle, I cut that out with the scissors.

I took the wrapping paper circle and put it on the lid, there is a small lip to hold it in place.

Next fill them with the goodies.

That was my quick fix homemade gift container, It saved the day.

I usually recycle all the cardboard containers, including the oatmeal canisters but this is one day I reused the item instead of tossing it in the recycle box.
