We’ve shared our yard with a lot of critters and this year the foxes have come to stay. They have created a den in the back corner of the yard. I had no idea they were so vocal. There is a warning bark, they use often it is short and sharp. The howls at night make me feel like I am a in horror movie. There are some whimpers. I got curious enough that I went and did a little research.
They estimate that there are at least 20 calls that foxes use. One of them is called a gekker. It is like a gruff chuckle and probably one of the most distinct calls they express. It’s common as well. They are a bit of a nervous bunch and this is a go to for nervous, excited or playing.
We have not seen any young ones out yet, but the denning looks big enough that we may have young ones soon. This will be fun and noisy to watch.

I haven’t seen one. Moreover, I don’t have any idea with the real sound of a fox.
I shared this on fakebook, telling all my friends, you other friends of mine earn by the reading and sharing of your work.
I hope this helps you find a good following.
There are foxes in my neighborhood but not in my backyard. We also get coyotes.
