In Manila, there is a district for the Chinese that is called Chinatown. They have their own fire truck that usually is always first in the fire scene.
What’s good in their fire fighters is the fact that it is voluntary work only. All of the firemen in that district are volunteers. It is not easy to volunteer as a fireman because there is a training involved and also a shift to fulfill. Take note that the operation of the firemen is 24/7 so there should always be firemen in their station. They have been doing that since I was a boy.

I have no idea if our firemen are volunteers or if get paid.
The station (22) just around the corner from us has 1/2 professional and 1/2 volunteer staff.
