Then he brought me in and made me read the lyrics and listen to the song. I did.
Then I asked, so what does this song say to you.
“It means that they want to destroy everything they told me we were fighting for, our rights to worship, a country to protect our way of life, and a future for our children. Yes, it would wonderful if everyone could agree. But no one can agree and if we don’t stand up and fight we will have no rights.”
“What do you want to fight for now?”
“Our right to keep law and order and live in ways that are respectful. It’s not rocket science.”
I think this is going to be a very long day.
It’s a great song and I DON’T want it to be a National Anthem for the United States.
