The fun thing about being in a social community like Virily is you get blogging and writing inspiration from other members. It could be a post that you read or it could a conversation you had via the comments section.
I was chatting with Halcombe at a post written by Ellie and that got me thinking about another topic for my “Cool Tweets” post series. I learned that Spain gets the credit for inventing the siesta but not the sombrero. The sombrero is an icon of the Mexican culture. The conversation inspired me to see what kind of tweets I could find about the sombrero hats. That first tweet? Yeah. That dog is probably thinking: “Silly human. Sombreros are for people. Not for dogs.”
I was only thinking of the sombrero hats but pulled up some other content I was not expecting.
FUN FACT: Sombrero is from the Spanish word “sombra” which means“shade” and was introduced in the 15thcentury.
EXTRA FUN FACT FOR MORE FUN: The poncho is also recognized as an iconic Mexican symbol even though it is common apparel among many indigenous peoples in South America. Traditionally it was an article of clothing worn by men. But when modern women decided they could also wear them, ponchos for women became practical and fashionable clothing.
