The first round of the University Credit Union West Coast Conference (WCC) Men’s Basketball Tournament will begin tonight in Las Vegas, NV. The WCC tournament is completely unique from all of the other conference tournaments because the top two seeds, Gonzaga and BYU, receive a triple bye into the semifinals even though there are only ten teams in the conference. The regular season actually means something because the worst four teams in the conference have to win five games in a row in order to win the tournament.
Here is the first round schedule for tonight.
#9 San Diego vs #8 Loyola Marymount (LMU) – 9 PM EST.
#7 Santa Clara vs #10 Portland – 11 PM EST.

when someone is leaving I always wave 3 times, does that count as a triple bye?
not sure this one (4 games) has any relevance but will be curious later in this tournament.
Yes, that pun counts. It is corny, but I love it. The most that I have ever seen a team win in this tournament is four in a row, but never all five.
the tournaments are set up to make winning 5 nearly impossible the BigTen does theirs over 5 days. no time to recover.
The only team that won five games in five days in any of these tournaments was when Syracuse won the Big East back in 2005 or 2006
it is the sad reality 5 games in 5 days destroys the recovery
