For the New Year’s eve countdown, the cacophony of firecrackers and fireworks would pervade the air some 30 minutes before midnight. The sound or maybe more of the noise will peak some minutes before the clock strikes 12. But the noise would still continue for more than an hour.
For us, the revelry ends 30 minutes after the clock strikes 12 which means the food is ready for our midnight meal. That is the first meal for the new year. It is our tradition to spend the new year’s eve at home and have cooked food for the purpose of the midnight meal that usually we have soup, pasta or noodles, and bread.

they have fireworks in downtown DC, but in the burbs we don’t tend to do fireworks as much!
