Even if I have a garden in our backyard, I still use pots for some of my plants like strawberry and herbs. The potting medium that I use is soil but I make a mix so the soil will be enjoyed by the plant when I put it in the pot. Plain soil would make it hard for some plants to grow.
Rice hull is good for the mixture with the soil plus dried grass and leaves as well. The so called vermicompost is also a good addition, that is the soil which is the manure of the earthworms. If the soil is too clayey like our natural soil here, it is okay to add fine sand just to neutralize the stickiness of the clay. After mixing, the mixture is best to be solarized so it would be sanitized.

We have our own compost that we produce from garden and kitchen waste
Perhaps after the renovation, I could start my own garden. I already have a plan on starting a hydroponics garden in 2020 with the help of a friend… now I have to postpone it for a while.
