At 6’11” tall, Kent State freshman center Kalin Bennett has been continuing to overcome obstacles and to break down barriers. Earlier this year, Bennett became the first person ever with autism to receive a Division I scholarship when he made the decision to go to Kent State in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Fast-forward to now as Kent State won their first game of the season with a 97-58 victory over Hiram College. With this game already decided, Bennett was able to play the last six minutes of the game. He then became the first person with autism to score in a Division I college basketball game in the waning minutes with a solid left hook shot in the middle of the paint. Fortunately, he will be given more time to develop throughout this season and for the rest of his college basketball career.
